Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow and there’s no better way to celebrate than with tacos and margaritas. The city’s best taquerias are always delicious and dependable, but the following restaurants will also have special offerings for the holiday. Indulge in tacos and tequila
Artango Bar & Steakhouse
Argentine beef is the focus of this Lincoln Square steakhouse but on Cinco de Mayo, Mexican dishes will be highlighted. Artango is offering shrimp, veggie, and barbacoa taco plates plus dinner options (tacos, fajitas, and more) for two or four people.

Rojo Gusano
The Albany Park location of Rojo Gusano is fueling the fun with $30 taco kits. They’re packed with a protein (choose between bistec alambre, pastor alambre, chorizo con papas, and chicken tinga), onions, cilantro, guacamole salsa, habanero salsa, limes, radish, and 12 corn tortillas. Pair the meal with margaritas and mezcalitas for $20/quart.
Florentino
Florentino Gutierrez is a veteran Chicago chef who has worked a few corporate gigs, including for Blue Plate Events. Now the chef is operating a delivery service. Old Pueblo Cantina
Sonoran-style flavors arrived in Lincoln Park last year with the opening of this neighborhood cantina. For Cinco de Mayo, enjoy a deluxe taco kit featuring chorizo queso fundido, queso enchiladas, Mexican rice, refried beans, roasted veggies, chips, salsa, guacamole, and flour tortillas. The meal feeds four-to-six people and is priced at $94.95.
Dos Urban Cantina
Beloved modern Mexican restaurant Dos Urban Cantina is back with family meals on weekends and Cinco de Mayo. Folks can pick up chipotle chicken tacos ($45, feeds four) or tamal Azteca ($40, feeds four). Each order comes with dessert — either chocolate cake or tres leches — as well. Chips and guac and alcohol are optional add-ons.
Etta
The hearth at one of Wicker Park’s hottest spots will be cranking out Mexican-inspired bites on May 5. Etta’s “Fiesta en Casa” meal ($45) features chips and guac, rice, refried beans, arugula and avocado salad, short rib barbacoa tacos, and cinnamon tres leches. Diners can add braised enchiladas rojas, shrimp and avocado ceviche tostada, and elotes for an extra $20, or margarita kits for $45.
Frontier
Get down with tacos and tequila from this Noble Square gastropub that’s known for its whole animal service. For $16, guests are treated to their choice of three tacos (brisket, pork, or smoked mushrooms), Spanish rice, beans, and tortillas. A la carte tacos are available for $4. There’s also a $30 tequila package that consists of a bottle of Patron, shakers, and mixers for four cocktails.
Tallboy Taco
Lettuce Entertain You’s casual taqueria inside Nacional 27 is putting together a special package for the holiday. Customers will get their choice of protein, tortillas, toppings, rice, corn fundido, guac, and chips along with the recipe and ingredients to make margaritas. The cost is $89.95; the taco and margarita kits can also be purchased separately. Build-your-own guac kits are available for $35.
Frontera Grill
Rick Bayless’s flagship restaurant is preparing a taco feast for four people. The $60 spread boasts wood-grilled steak, chicken, duck, carnitas, and a variety of toppings and sides.
Mercadito
The popular River North establishment is returning on Cinco de Mayo with a special takeout menu. Customers will be able to order tacos, chips and guac, rice and beans, and vacuum-sealed cocktails to go.
Barrio
The trendy Mexican spot from DineAmic Hospitality will reopen for one day only on Cinco de Mayo to help Chicagoans throw a taco party. Chef Katsuji Tanabe’s $60 DIY pack feeds four people and includes chicken al pastor tacos, chips, guacamole, salsa verde, and charred corn elotes. Add a margarita kit for $55.
BLVD
Though BLVD’s menu is rooted in new American cuisine, the luxe restaurant will offer a carnitas enchiladas dinner to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Enjoy corn tortillas stuffed with braised pork and topped with tomatillo salsa verde, queso añejo, and Mexican crema. The dish is accompanied by rice and beans, a side salad, chips and salsa, and flan de coco for dessert. It’s priced at $25 per person.
La Josie
La Josie in the West Loop is back open and the Mexican restaurants is taking orders via Tock and Toast. The Tock link will go live later on Monday. Customers can also call to place orders. Whole-roasted chicken, parrillada, and chiles relleno are the headliners. There’s also a full slate of cocktails.
La Luna
Pilsen’s hip modern Mexican restaurant is making this Taco Tuesday an affordable one by selling tacos for $2.75. Other deals include $25 taco combo platters (12 tacos), $8 Hot Cheetos burritos, and $30 margarita pitchers. All purchases will receive a free loteria card and have a chance to win gift cards.
Casa Índígō
This unique Mexican spot in Pilsen is open for pickup via ChowNow. Find tacos, salads, fried chicken, and more. Call in orders, too. The first 25 customers on Tuesday will get free empanadas.
Carnitas Don Pedro
A fixture along 18th Street, the specialty is pork at Carnitas Don Pedro. Call in orders to go.
